Last school year, I participated in the Beginning Teacher Workshop through NESC, and to say that the experience was beneficial would be an understatement. After 20 years of experience in Early Intervention, transitioning into a school setting was a significant change for me. While I felt confident in my ability to teach, I initially felt less confident with classroom management and creating an environment that set both my students and myself up for success.
I took full advantage of the online resources, tools, and professional support the facilitator provided throughout the workshop. Her guidance gave me the opportunity to work through challenging situations that I previously had not known how to navigate. Having a professional I could talk with openly about difficult moments, student behaviors, and challenges throughout the school day was incredibly valuable.
For me, the Beginning Teacher Workshop provided not only practical resources and strategies, but also the reassurance and professional support I needed as I transitioned into a new educational setting. It was an invaluable experience that helped me grow in confidence and effectiveness as an educator.
