The Northeast Education Services Cooperative (NESC) is one of six Regional Education Associations in North Dakota. Our membership includes public, private, and tribal school districts, as well as cooperating and collaborating members across the Northeast region. Through partnership with these members and numerous regional, state, and national entities, we support students and educators. We proudly provide a wide variety of relevant and high-quality programs and services in the areas of professional learning, technology support, school improvement, data systems support, and curriculum enrichment.

Professional Learning

The NESC offers professional learning to member schools in collaboration with the Lake Region Teacher Center, fellow North Dakota Regional Education Associations, and numerous state and national education partners. We are here to support you through state, regional, and local/customized structures and opportunities.

Charting the Course: Navigating Formative and Summative Assessment in the Classroom

January 14, February 4, & February 25, 2025

Educators will navigate the use of assessments to guide students in learning, provide ongoing feedback, plan growth opportunities, evaluate achievement, and advance students to the next level. To navigate assessment processes, participants will: 1) Apply learned concepts to classroom instruction for quality assessment, 2) Improve assessment practices, 3) Self-assess learning through reflection and goal-setting for improvement, and 4) Integrate and synthesize assessment knowledge to implement formative & summative practices.

As the former High School Principal and current Superintendent at Dakota Prairie Schools, I have witnessed first-hand the benefits of the NESC’s Succeed 2020 program. These benefits range from technology assistance, data retrieval, professional development analyzing data, and support. In the time I have been at DP, we have transitioned to a one-to-one school, implemented data teams at both campuses, implemented a data intervention time with our students, and begun wrestling with best practices in regards to classroom teaching and data usage. All of these improvements are due directly to the assistance and guidance allowed to us by the NESC’s Succeed 2020 Grant.
